Ibadan Business School (RC: 972642) was incorporated on the 17th day of August, 2011 under the Company and Allied Matters Act 1990 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with the primary objective of promoting the growth and advancement of business education within and outside Africa. The School is also licensed by the Centre for Management Development (CMD) of Nigeria- the operational arm of the Nigerian Council for Management Development (NCMD) which is the statutory body charged with the responsibility of regulating the standards of Training and Development Institutions in Nigeria. The private sector is known to be the key driver of buoyant economies, wealth and job creation in developed nations of the Western parts of the World while the public sector is at the drivers' seat in most developing countries. Since, the ultimate goal of every nation is to become a leading economy in the world it has become imperative to address the capacity needs of all stakeholders in the economy such as the Public Sector, Private Sector, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and the individuals. However, the capacity needs of Public Sector Organizations which are major drivers of economies in developing nations especially in Nigeria and other Sub-Saharan Countries have not enjoyed the deserved priority. The human capacity development interest of the Organized Private Sector seems to be the priority of many business education institutions even in developing countries where the business training needs of the Public Sector ought to be given utmost priority in order to facilitate a rapid transition from a developing status to a developed country. Ibadan Business School has therefore been established out of the enormous need to address the inadequate fulfilment of the capacity needs of Public Sector at the Local, State and Federal levels as well as attend to the business capacity development needs of individuals, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs while not leaving out the organized private business sector.

At Ibadan Business School we are committed to providing capacity building services to individuals in the two most important sectors of the economy, the public sector and micro, small and medium enterprises sector. Ibadan Business School (IBS) is a learning enterprise established with an overriding vision to bridge, through educational programs, research and influence, the capacity needs of individuals within two important sectors- the Public Sector and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Ibadan Business School was conceived and designed to provide a customised response to developing nation’s socio- economic development challenges through its tailor-made, unique and home-grown solutions. The School prides itself as the only Business learning enterprise in Nigeria that focuses its service offerings primarily on the two most important sectors of Developing Economies - the Public Sector and the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

It is well known that the private sector has long been identified as the key driver of buoyant economies, wealth, and job creation of developed countries while the public sector is in the drivers’ seat in most developing nations. However, as Nigeria transits the lengthy journey of transformation from being a developing to becoming a developed nation, priority has to be given to the capacity needs of individuals in the public sector in order to facilitate a rapid transition.

Ibadan Business School has therefore been established out of an enormous need to address the capacity needs of Public Governance Business across all levels of governance. The school also equally attends to the needs of micro, small and medium scale entrepreneurs who remain major players in the drive to a buoyant economy.
